History of the University

1989 Foundation of the Technikum Vorarlberg
1992 Pilot Degree Program “Automation Engineering” in cooperation with the Technical University Graz, Austria
1994 Foundation of the association “Fachhochschul.Studiengänge.Vorarlberg”
Start of the first degree program “Automation Engineering” at the Höchsterstrasse Campus as a full-time course of study
1995 Start of the second degree program “Business Process and Project Management” (BPPM)
Start of the renovation of the Achstrasse Campus
1996 Start of the third degree program “InterMedia” (IM)
The degree programs BPPM and IM move to the Achstrasse Campus
1997 Foundation of the Fachhochschule Vorarlberg GmbH
1999 The Fachhochschule Vorarlberg / Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences is awarded
full university status
2000 Start of the “Technical Production Management” degree program (TeProM) and the gradual phasing out of the “Automation Engineering” degree program
Start of the fourth degree program “iTec - Information and Communication Engineering”
Start of the first continuing education program “Integrated Product Development” (IPD)
2001 Start of the fifth degree program International Business Administration (iUF), which is the first continuing professional development degree program
Start of the first post-undergraduate and MBA degree program “International Management” (im) in cooperation with the Fachhochschule Liechtenstein
Start of the continuing education program “IT Network Management”
2002 Start of the sixth degree program “Social Work”
2004 Change to two-tier bachelor’s and master’s degree program structure
2005 New Campus was opened
